1. Pick a domain
Although most hosting providers will offer a “free” domain with your hosting plan, you’re better of skipping this option altogether, because in many situations, the “free” domain can actually be owned by the provider rather than you. This can cause complications if you want to move your host a few years (or a few months) down the line.

You may be tempted to consider an alternate extension, but we’d suggest looking for a domain that is optimally an .com, or alternatively a .org, or .net. Just remember, as cool as those other domains may seem, they are actually extensions for other countries, so your content may have an extra hard time ranking in the US is you go with another extensions.

4.Choose a theme
By now, you’ve got your site can can even head over to your admin to start wrriting. But maybe it doesn’t quite seem like you yet? Well, the beauty of WordPress is that there are thousands of different themes, and plugins you can add to the site to improve and personalize the look and feel. To start with, just choose “Themes” under “Appearance” on the left side of your screen. From there, you can preview and download many free themes.
